Diamond Tankard, 21 — granddaughter of gospel-jazz legend Ben Tankard and former star of Bravo’s Thicker Than Water — was arrested on Friday, July 18, following a violent altercation inside a Walmart in Antioch, Tennessee.
As reported by 7 News, authorities say Tankard approached a woman from behind at a self-checkout station, pulled her hair, and began punching her repeatedly.
Cell phone footage posted by Tankard herself shows her wearing a pink top, camo pants, and an ankle monitor as she unleashes a flurry of punches. Onlookers can be heard pleading with her to stop while the victim shields her face. Nearly a minute into the chaos, Tankard pulls out a red-and-white tube sock—allegedly loaded with rocks—and smashes it against the woman’s head.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by WVLT-TV, the victim sustained cuts to her forehead and above her left eye. She also reported that Tankard snatched her $900 Louis Vuitton bag and a $1,500 iPhone 14 during the attack.
Surveillance footage reportedly confirmed Tankard used the rock-filled sock as a weapon. Police recovered the sock and officially classified it as such.
Tankard was booked on charges of aggravated assault with a weapon and theft of property. She posted a $25,000 bond and was released the same day. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before transporting her to a nearby hospital.
This isn’t Tankard’s first legal issue.
Back on November 29, 2024, she was hit with an attempted first-degree murder charge after allegedly using her Range Rover to hit a 30-year-old woman outside a Nashville bar, according to Law & Crime. Authorities say she circled around, accelerated toward the woman, and left her injured. Tankard was also charged with fleeing the scene and failing to provide aid. Her bond in that case was set at over $1 million, and she was still under court-ordered monitoring when the Walmart incident took place.
Tankard, who lives in Nashville and is a mother to a young daughter, has remained silent about both cases. Her next court date is set for August 22.
