Ozzy Osbourne Took the Stage One Last Time With Black Sabbath Just Two Weeks Before His Passing

The world is grieving the loss of rock icon Ozzy Osbourne, who delivered one final, unforgettable performance with Black Sabbath just two weeks before his passing.

The farewell show, titled Back to the Beginning, took place on July 5 at Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham — a fitting tribute, as the legendary band was formed just down the road back in 1968.

The event brought together a powerhouse lineup of rock legends, including Alice in Chains, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, and Tool. Tom Morello took on the role of musical director for the night and also hit the stage with his group, Morello’s All Stars.

The spotlight was all on Ozzy, who delivered his final performance seated on a throne, unable to stand due to his ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease. At 76, the Prince of Darkness powered through an emotional set, treating fans to classics like “Mama I’m Coming Home” and “Crazy Train.”

In a moment that made rock history, Ozzy reunited with Black Sabbath’s original lineup — Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward — for the first time since 2005. Together, they ripped through iconic tracks including “War Pigs,” “Iron Man,” and “Paranoid.”

A crowd of 45,000 fans packed Villa Park for the unforgettable night, while millions more tuned in across the globe via pay-per-view to witness the legendary sendoff.

In an especially heartfelt moment captured backstage, Ozzy’s daughter, Kelly Osbourne, got engaged to Slipknot’s Sid Wilson. The surprise proposal happened with both Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne by her side, making the emotional moment even more special. Kelly, caught off guard, was visibly moved.

Just days later, on Tuesday, July 22, Ozzy’s family shared the devastating news of his passing with a statement that read: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
