Wendy Williams says the guardianship process has been “very scary,” while her attorney promises legal action.

Wendy Williams isn’t holding back about the guardianship she’s been under, describing the experience as “very scary.”

The TV icon and her attorney, Joe Tacopina, spoke with TMZ outside Fresco by Scotto in New York City on Tuesday, July 22, after wrapping up her birthday dinner celebration.

When asked what he hopes will happen next in Williams’ case, Tacopina responded simply: justice. He also took a moment to silence any doubts about her mental clarity, saying, “Wendy’s Wendy, we’ve had conversations over the course of 6 months, she’s the same Wendy Williams we know from TV.”

Wendy Williams, who just turned 61, didn’t hold back when she said, “I just had a birthday and I’m still in a guardianship, if that doesn’t say enough I don’t know what does.”

Her attorney, Joe Tacopina—who recently scored a win defending A$AP Rocky in his gun assault case—called the whole guardianship process “scary,” a sentiment Williams echoed with a firm, “Very scary.”

When it comes to holding those behind the guardianship accountable, Tacopina made it clear that lawsuits are definitely on the table. “No question,” he said, though his top priority right now is getting Wendy back home.

On a lighter note, Williams credits her youthful glow at 61 to spending her time working out in the facility.

Williams has been under a court-ordered guardianship since 2022 due to concerns over her ability to manage her personal and financial affairs. Her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, currently oversees decisions related to her health, money, and more.

While Tacopina admits the road to freedom won’t be easy, he’s committed to doing whatever it takes to help his friend reclaim the life she had before all of this.
