Matty Healy’s mom, Denise Welch, is perfectly fine with not ending up as Taylor Swift’s mother-in-law.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen this week, Welch was asked about Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, which includes several songs referencing her brief romance with Healy, such as “Guilty as Sin?,” “Fresh Out the Slammer,” “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can),” and “loml.”
“Obviously, on pain of death, can I talk about that episode. But not being her mother-in-law is a role that I am glad that I lost,” Welch quipped as the audience gasped.
She quickly clarified, “Not that I have anything against her at all! It was tricky.”
Welch then added with a laugh, “Listen, you’re not allowed to say anything, and then she writes a whole album about it.”
