Chuck E. Cheese is making headlines for all the wrong reasons again after a chaotic brawl left over 20 people injured and a child punched in the eye.
WKRG reports that on July 26, police were called to a Chuck E. Cheese in Mobile, Alabama, after a massive altercation broke out. Witnesses say it started when a man attacked a woman and some children, which quickly escalated into a larger brawl.
“He just got upset about something,” one witness said, describing the suspect as a teenage boy.
One young girl, who was caught in the middle of the fight, revealed, “They punched me in the eye, right here. They started fighting as I was walking by, and then they punched me on accident. I don’t know if it was on purpose or on accident.”
So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the Chuck E. Cheese brawl, but that could change, Mobile Police Department’s Public Information Officer Roderick Miles revealed during a press conference.
“If someone was injured, they could possibly be facing assault charges,” Miles explained. “If property was destroyed, someone has to be held liable for that, so they could be facing criminal mischief charges. And if there was just an altercation, then it’s a possible misdemeanor, which can be harassment.”
In other Chuck E. Cheese–related news, an employee dressed as the franchise’s beloved mascot was recently arrested while on the job at a Florida location.
On July 3, Tallahassee police responded to a call at a Chuck E. Cheese after a woman reported her credit card stolen and used for $100 in fraudulent charges. She was able to trace the activity back to an employee, leading officers to arrest him while he was still dressed as the chain’s famous mouse mascot — a moment that quickly went viral and surely has the company’s PR team on edge.
The man behind the mascot, identified as Jermell Jones, was arrested and charged with three felonies.
