Terry Crews and his wife Rebecca King-Crews just hit an incredible milestone in their love story.
On Tuesday, July 29, the couple celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary, and the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star marked the occasion with a heartfelt Instagram post. Terry shared a carousel of throwback and recent photos showing the pair through the years — from their wedding day to stylish nights out, relaxing by the pool, and enjoying holiday moments with their five children: Naomi, 36, Azriél, 34, Tera, 26, Winnie, 22, and Isaiah, 20.
“36 years and just getting started!!” Terry captioned the post.
While Terry and Rebecca Crews’ marriage looks rock solid now, it hasn’t always been easy. In a February interview with People, Terry opened up about a time when their relationship was on the verge of ending nearly two decades in.
“Me and my wife have been married 36 years and, at year 20 though, it was over. And we totally rebuilt our relationship,” he shared. “And we decided we were going to be stronger together. It was a decision that we decided to make. A lot of times, people feel like love is about feelings — it’s work. It’s work. It’s really work. You have to get better at it, it’s a skill. There’s a lot of things I had to relearn.”
Both Terry and Rebecca stress that growing together is key as people and feelings change over time. Last year, when they celebrated their 35th anniversary, Rebecca told People that forgiveness is at the heart of their lasting marriage.
“My advice is that the key principle in any relationship is forgiveness,” she said. “You cannot hold grudges and stay together.”
