Tyler, the Creator Reaffirms He Has “Zero Interest” in Drinking or Using Drugs

Tyler, the Creator once again made it clear that in his 34 years, he’s never touched drugs or alcohol.

The West Coast rapper opened up about his sobriety during his appearance on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning on Tuesday (July 29). Around the 18:25 mark, Tyler described his life as “wild,” which sparked a bit of pushback from the hosts.

“Do you really live a wild life?” Ebro asked.

“Yes and yes. My actual regular life is probably much different than a regular person,” Tyler replied. “Not saying it’s better or anything … I have a crazy schedule. I live a wild life, based on that.”

Ebro then asked if Tyler was still sober, pointing out that he’s long been open about abstaining from drugs and alcohol.

“No smoke. I’ve never been drunk in my life. Nothing,” Tyler responded before being offered a drink. “I have no interest in it. Maybe, like, 10 years from now, me and wifey on the boat, I’m like, ‘F*ck it, let’s do that. And then we’ll try Molly.’ [It’s] just not for me now.”

He added that when the day comes, “It’ll definitely be wine. That seems sick. At some point, though.”

Tyler made it clear he has no problem with people who drink or use drugs and has never felt pressured to do so himself. Instead, he avoids the party scene altogether, preferring low-key nights with friends.

“I don’t go out. I’m not even around that. I just don’t wanna go to parties,” he said. “That’s not my speed. I would rather … go to the house and invite girls and the homies; we will play Uno and bake cookies and watch ATL or Cat in the Hat or something. That’s what we do.”

While Tyler stays sober, he clarified that his crew isn’t completely. “I don’t have no alcoholics or druggies around me. That’s not the company that I keep,” he said. “Again, if you’re on that time, that’s you. I’m not saying that I’m better than anybody, but my circle—and I’ve had the same circle for damn near 20 years—we not on that type of time.”
