Donald Trump Unsure About Granting Diddy a Pardon

President Donald Trump appears undecided on whether he’ll grant Sean “Diddy” Combs a presidential pardon.

During an interview with Newsmax that aired on Aug. 1, Trump addressed the possibility and made it clear he wasn’t fully convinced.

“He was essentially, I guess, sort of half-innocent,” Trump said. “He was celebrating a victory, but I guess it wasn’t as good of a victory.”

The President, who’s known for issuing pardons to convicted political allies and rappers like Lil Wayne, Kodak Black, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again, seemed to switch gears when he recalled how Diddy spoke out against him during his campaign.

“When I ran for office, he was very hostile,” Trump said. “It’s hard, you know? We’re human beings. And we don’t like to have things cloud our judgment, right? But when you knew someone and you were fine, and then you run for office, and he made some terrible statements. So I don’t know…it makes it more difficult to do.”

Trump’s comments came just a day after Diddy’s lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, told Variety that he had no idea whether his client would be pardoned.

“I am not involved in [pardon efforts] in the least. I have literally no idea,” Agnifilo said. “There are times I think there’s nothing to it, and there are times I think it’s just rumor mill stuff. But, I do not purport to know the president’s mind. I really don’t know.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Agnifilo shed light on Diddy’s life in confinement, revealing the toll it’s taking on him.

“One of the horrible things about the (Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn) is not going outside ever,” he explained. “He hasn’t been outside since September. He hasn’t had sun on his skin. It’s sort of like sensory deprivation. The light’s always the same, it’s artificial light, there’s no breeze, there’s no wind, there’s very little change in temperature. So, he wants to get out and be with his family.”

Diddy is set to be sentenced on October 3 after being found guilty of two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution.
