Mariah the Scientist has never been shy about showing love for Young Thug, and now she’s joking about how he could take that love to the next level.
TMZ Hip Hop caught up with the R&B star while she was on set with Kali Uchis filming content for their new collab “Is It a Crime,” just ahead of the release of her upcoming album Hearts Sold Separately. When asked if she’d want her YSL beau to get a special tattoo in her honor, Mariah had a playful suggestion.
Although she and Young Thug already share matching spider tattoos, she admitted she’d love for him to go bigger—literally.
“I would make him get Nick Cannon’s tattoo of Mariah Carey’s name on his back. That big ass tattoo he had. I would make him get that,” she said, laughing.
The nod was, of course, a reference to the massive back tattoo Nick Cannon got of Mariah Carey’s name in 2008 after they tied the knot.
Nick Cannon famously got “Mariah” tattooed in large cursive across his shoulder blades after marrying Mariah Carey in 2008. Following their divorce, he later covered the ink with a religious-themed design.
As for Mariah the Scientist and Young Thug, their relationship seems stronger than ever. In 2023, Mariah expressed her desire to marry Young Thug, and it’s clear he shares the same vision. During an appearance on the Baller Alert Show, she admitted she didn’t want to have a “jail wedding” while Thugger was dealing with the YSL RICO trial, but she’s confident marriage is in their future.
“I feel like he definitely wants to be married, and I feel like I do too,” she said.
In a separate interview with Complex, Mariah shared how proud she is to be with Young Thug and how unshakable their connection is.
“It’s like I have something where I’m very proud to have him,” she explained. “We have a really good balance. We just do, and I just feel like people don’t understand, but it’s really not for them to understand. But what I will say is that’s not gonna stop me from doing me.”
