Tory Lanez has been ordered to cover Megan Thee Stallion’s legal fees after disrupting a court-ordered deposition while behind bars.
According to court documents obtained by Complex, the April 9 Zoom deposition barely lasted an hour because of Lanez’s behavior. Instead of answering questions, he repeatedly interrupted Megan’s attorneys and even insulted one of them, allegedly telling her to comb her hair.
Megan’s legal team quickly filed a motion that same month, asking why Lanez shouldn’t be held in contempt for derailing the proceedings. When the judge gave him until April 30 to respond and he failed to do so, Lanez was hit with the order to pay.
The next time Lanez is deposed, a magistrate judge will be present to keep the session on track. Megan’s attorneys are also pushing for a special master to be assigned to oversee any future testimony — at Lanez’s expense.
This legal win for Megan comes just a week after YouTuber Milago Gramz, real name Milagro Elizabeth Cooper, was ordered to pay $5,000 in attorney’s fees for the rapper’s legal team. A federal judge in Florida found Gramz liable for costs tied to forcing the disclosure of her text messages and other potential evidence.
Megan explained last year why she decided to sue Gramz, who she has called a “mouthpiece” for Lanez.
“It’s time to hold bloggers accountable for years of harassment, cyberbullying, and the publication of misinformation about my personal and professional life,” Megan said. “I’ve endured countless attacks on my character based on false narratives from social media bloggers misrepresenting themselves as journalists. It’s unacceptable behavior and these individuals need to understand there will be repercussions for recklessly posting lies and defamatory falsehoods.”
