Metro Boomin made it crystal clear — there’s no beef between him and Joe Budden or the Joe Budden Podcast, despite some fans thinking otherwise after a lukewarm review of his new mixtape A Futuristic Summa.
During Sunday’s episode of JBP, Joe and his co-hosts — Ice, Ish, and Parks — gave their thoughts on the project, with Budden admitting he skipped a few tracks. That critique, paired with Metro’s recent social media posts clapping back at harsh critics, led fans to believe he was aiming shots at the podcast — especially after he reposted a fan calling out the JBP.
But Metro quickly shut that down.
Replying to a community post on X that suggested there was “smoke” between him and Budden, the producer set the record straight: “Let’s not do this! Big fan of the JBP and I’ve been a regular viewer for years and am even a subscriber on Patreon!” he wrote. “I respect everything that was said up there (except Ish saying no girls are listening to this, n***a are you crazy LOL) ALL LOVE.”
Metro shared the original posts featured in the X community thread on Sunday — the same day the Joe Budden Podcast episode aired — which helped fuel fan speculation that he was reacting to their comments.
During the episode, around the 57-minute mark, the JBP crew gave their take on A Futuristic Summa, with Budden revealing he’s removing Metro from his “instant purchase list.”
“I saw you up there. I didn’t know you was dropping. I bought it because you’ve been on a run and I clicked this shit,” Budden explained, adding he’s “still waiting” to catch a vibe after stopping at track five.
“I’m giving you my experience. I went to track five, I cut it off immediately, never to return to it,” he said. “Now, I’m not saying that I won’t return to it. That was the end of my Metro Boomin experience.”
The hosts also vented about not knowing who featured on each track. “If you’re a producer, put the fucking names of the people on the song. Say featuring like a decent human being is all we saying,” Budden shouted.
He later softened the critique, saying, “I see a lot of people praising this album so I’m not gonna shit on it. I only heard five songs.”
Futuristic Summa, which dropped on Friday (August 1), pays homage to Atlanta’s sound and boasts a stacked lineup including Future, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Lil Baby, Quavo, Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka Flame, Young Dro, Yung LA, Roscoe Dash, 2 Chainz, T.I., Travis Porter, and more.
