Lizzo is opening up about how her body transformation has shaped her perspective on self-love and body positivity.
In a chat with Women’s Health UK, the singer made it clear—she’s loving how she looks right now. “I like how I look now,” she said. “I still think I’m big. I’m still wearing plus-size clothing. I have the same rolls. I got the same belly, the same thighs — I think I’m just a smaller version.”
When it comes to body positivity, Lizzo made it known that it’s not about staying the same. “Body positivity is the radical act of daring to exist loudly and proudly in a society that told you you shouldn’t exist,” she said.
And if the weight ever comes back? She’s totally fine with it. “It’s okay to release weight. It’s okay to gain weight after you’ve released weight, because what you’re not going to do is shame me if my body changes again and I get bigger.”
Lizzo’s been open about her journey for a while. Back in June, she revealed she briefly tried Ozempic but didn’t stick with it long term. “Ozempic works because you eat less food,” she shared on the Just Trish podcast. “It makes you feel full. So if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it’s the same shit.”
And in May, on The Breakfast Club, she explained why she calls it a “weight release.” “I think I had to start with cleaning out my mind and my energy and clearing out all of the negativity around me,” she said. “I do call it a weight release because [when] it started, I got snatched here first,” she added, pointing to her forehead. “And then my body just followed suit.”
