Cardi B admitted she “underestimated” how many 3XL shirts she needed to stock for her new album rollout, joking that she didn’t realize she had so many “fat” fans.
As part of the promo for her long-anticipated sophomore album Am I The Drama?, Cardi dropped limited edition CD box sets for preorder. The sets, made in collaboration with WWE ahead of her SummerSlam appearance, featured a custom T-shirt, the new CD, and a signed art card.
On Friday (Aug. 1), a fan on X pointed out that the Bardi Gang had already “cleared out” all the 3XL-sized boxes—sparking a surprised (and very Cardi) reaction from the rapper.
Cardi B jumped on Instagram Live to react to the quick sellout of her 3XL merch, revealing that the oversized shirts were gone in just 20 minutes.
“We really underestimated the box sets,” she said around the 20-second mark of the video. “So the box sets are completely sold out, especially because you fat fucks—clearly you guys are fat as fuck, no Chick-fil-A for y’all.”
She went on, “Now, knowing that my fans is fat—I can’t even make fun of fat people no more. Don’t call me fatphobic, y’all, ’cause everybody make fun of my BBL.”
Sipping on a large Chick-fil-A drink during the livestream, the “Outside” rapper jokingly dubbed the session a “body-shaming space.”
“I could body shame people ’cause y’all body-shame me,” Cardi said. “If y’all body shame me, I could body shame y’all. This is a body-shaming space. You could talk about my body and I talk about yours, so it doesn’t matter. I call you fat, though it’s not a big deal. You can talk about my BBL all day, but I haven’t talked about you being fat all day.”
Am I The Drama? is set to drop on September 19.
