After turning over links to two films, Dame Dash has until Aug. 13 to hand over the remaining key assets in his ongoing legal battle with filmmaker Josh Webber, as he still faces the threat of an arrest warrant.
According to a letter filed on Aug. 9 and obtained by Complex, Webber’s legal team at Brown & Rosen LLC told the court that while Dash has partially complied with orders to surrender film and music assets, several crucial items are still outstanding.
Dash has provided links to Honor Up and Too Honorable, which are now being reviewed to confirm they match the versions distributed by BET. However, Webber’s attorneys say Dash has yet to transfer the copyright for the documentary Mr. Untouchable to the U.S. Marshal—a “clerical error” his lawyer has promised to fix by Aug. 13.
They also allege Dash hasn’t paid the U.S. Copyright Office for deposit record copies, delaying the auction of his assets, and has failed to produce a full list of Bluroc Records’ music-related property and bank account information. Webber’s team is asking the court to order Dash to turn over a complete inventory of Bluroc’s assets, the company’s banking details, and Mr. Untouchable by the deadline.
This latest development comes just days after Webber’s camp accused Dash of ignoring deadlines and used his social media activity as evidence of noncompliance—urging the court to have him arrested.
Webber is determined to collect the $800,000 defamation judgment he won in 2022, which the court ordered Dash to satisfy by giving up certain copyrights, films, and full ownership of Bluroc Records.
Dash, meanwhile, has brushed off the judgment and its impact, telling The Art of Dialogue in July, “I don’t have too much in my name. So the things that are in my name are companies that I don’t even know exist, don’t make money, and are from years ago.”
