Tyler, the Creator revealed that Lloyd Banks was always his favorite member of G-Unit after coming across a “Hot Wind Blows” mashup.

Tyler, the Creator is showing love to Lloyd Banks after a viral fan mashup drew unexpected comparisons between the two.

It kicked off when a fan tweeted, “sometimes tylerthecreator be sounding like lloyd banks,” sparking a buzz online. Soon after, another user dropped a mashup combining Tyler’s “Hot Wind Blows” with Banks’ “I’m Still Fly,” and the conversation took off.

Tyler spotted the mashup and responded with a nod to his early fandom: “sick. bought hunger for more the day it came out. banks was my fav from g-unit.”

Lloyd Banks’ debut solo album, The Hunger for More, dropped in 2004 and delivered chart-topping hits like “On Fire” and “I’m So Fly.” The project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 434,000 copies sold in its first week, and even earned Banks a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards.

This isn’t the first time Tyler has shown love to Banks or the rest of G-Unit. Back in 2020, he tweeted about the crew’s impact on the mixtape game, name-dropping 50 Cent’s “After My Chedda” and “You’re Not Ready” with Banks and Tony Yayo.

“g unit mixtapes were so hard mannnnn afta my chedda and youre not ready and,” Tyler wrote. “N***a be like why didnt my fav rapper blow up prolly cause he has the personality of a chair niggas be flat haha, curtis was such a magnet.”
