Pete Davidson says he felt “embarrassed” by the public’s obsession with his penis size after ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande joked it was 10 inches long.
Speaking on The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne Tha God asked the actor and comedian about his Saturday Night Live days, when his dating life often made more headlines than his work.
“I brought a lot of pop culture into the show, like I made it [a] sort of tabloidly, trendy thing unintentionally,” Davidson said around the 18-minute mark. “Also I was embarrassed by it because… no one talked about any work I was doing. They were just like, ‘Oh that’s the fuck stick.’ And that hurt so much.”
He explained that friends, cast members, and people in his life could see how “sad” and “embarrassed” he was about the fixation, though no one was openly mean to him.
When Charlamagne said, “You was banging a lot of hot chicks and you had a 10-inch penis,” Davidson laughed and replied, “You know, on paper, that sounds great,” before admitting the sexualization made him uncomfortable.
“It’s embarrassing, ’cause, you know… It’s Hollywood. Everybody fucks everyone. Everybody’s dating everybody. Why are they focusing on me? It’s not ’cause I’m Glen Powell handsome, you know? I’m just like this dude that tells dick jokes and is a drug addict.”
He noted the attention even made relationships harder to navigate, though he doesn’t see himself as a victim.
“The sexualization of me, like… if that was a girl, you know, like there’ll be a march for it,” he joked. “Seriously, you’re just talking about my dick all day. … People do that on the internet … [with] let’s say Sydney Sweeney or whatever. But there’s no like radio hosts or news people being like, ‘This guy with the dick,’ they don’t talk about girls like that professionally.”
Davidson added that people would even point at his crotch on the street. He believes it all started when media outlets tied his dating life to “big dick energy” because he was dating women “out of his league.”
“Then someone confirmed it,” he said, declining to name who. And just to set the record straight, he added, he doesn’t “think” it’s actually 10 inches long.
