Jennifer Lopez wrapped up her whirlwind summer on the road with a heartfelt update about where life has her now.
After a rocky 2024 that saw both a separation from Ben Affleck and a canceled tour, the 56-year-old made her big return to the stage this year with her Up All Night Live tour. She closed out the final show this week by sharing a message full of gratitude.
“Last night was our final show of the summer, and I want to thank every single one of you who came out,” Jennifer Lopez shared on Instagram. “This was the most beautiful, happy, and free summer…and my only wish is that you feel as joyful as you made me feel every night. I love you.”
Earlier in the summer, Lopez told PEOPLE she was already channeling that same spirit as she mapped out her plans. “I’m excited to tour—I’m excited first to go do Pride, I’m super excited about that,” she said. “I’m working on that show right now too as we speak and crafting the tour as well. I’m excited to get back out there.”
She described the season as the perfect time to embrace happiness and freedom: “It seems like a perfect summer to celebrate being free and being happy. Just everything in my life right now just feels really healthy and good, and I’m ready to get out there and make people sing and dance and have a good time. That’s always my goal.”
Lopez also tied this moment to a deeper sense of personal growth. Speaking to Interview Magazine, she admitted, “I was thinking about this time in my life, and I’m like, ‘That’s not what I thought it was going to turn out like,’” before realizing, “No, this is exactly where I needed to be, to lead me to where I want to go.”
She added, “Being in a relationship doesn’t define me. I can’t be looking for happiness in other people. I have to have happiness within myself. I used to say I’m a happy person, but was still looking for something for somebody else to fill, and it’s just like, ‘No, I’m actually good.’”
