Influencer Yarely Ashley Hermosillo has sadly lost her life in a tragic shooting.
The 27-year-old Arizona creator, celebrated for her cooking and lifestyle content, was fatally struck by a stray bullet on Friday (August 15).
According to NBC-affiliate KPNX, Glendale police arrested 33-year-old Jesus Preciado Dousten, charging him with second-degree murder in connection to her death.
Authorities say Dousten got into an argument with another driver at a red light, pulled out a gun, and fired randomly. The bullet pierced the passenger-side window of Hermosillo’s car, hitting her in the head. She was not involved in the altercation.
Her boyfriend, who was behind the wheel, rushed her to the hospital, but she later passed away. Their young son and Hermosillo’s mother, who were in the backseat, were unharmed.
Glendale Police Sergeant Brian Hoskins told CBS-affiliate KPHO that investigators reviewed surveillance footage from multiple cameras to identify Dousten as the truck’s owner. A search of a Glendale residence uncovered two handguns, and Dousten was taken into custody at his apartment.
He is being held on a $1 million bond and faces charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, misconduct involving weapons, and endangerment.
Hermosillo’s family has launched a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses.
Calling the tragedy a “senseless act of violence,” her family remembered Yarely as “a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a beautiful soul whose light touched everyone who knew her.”
They added, “She leaves behind her husband and their 4-year-old son, who now face an unimaginable loss. Yarely’s greatest joy in life was being a mother, and she poured her heart into caring for her little boy.”
The fundraiser, which has already brought in over $9,000 of its $12,000 goal, will also go toward caring for her son.
“No amount can ever replace Yarely’s presence, but your kindness and generosity will help bring comfort and stability to her family as they navigate life without her,” the family’s statement reads.
