Lance Rivera isn’t holding back when it comes to Jay-Z, calling his alleged treatment of Dame Dash “some sucker shit.”
“I think it was some sucker shit when they excluded him from the history of who he is and Roc-A-Fella and that Brooklyn Museum shit,” Rivera said. “I think it was unjust.”
Rivera was referring to the “Book of Hov” exhibit at the Brooklyn Public Library, which Irv Gotti previously criticized for leaving out Dame Dash during his Drink Champs interview. Gotti argued that Roc-A-Fella’s success was “all Hov,” claiming Dame was just “along for the ride.”
“Yeah, Dame got his money,” Rivera added. “He probably did some things with it, you know what I’m saying—but nah, he not supposed to be in the situation that he’s in.”
Dash’s current money problems come from unpaid taxes, including $8.7 million owed to New York State. The government even spent $1 million to acquire a third of Roc-A-Fella Records to collect some of that debt. Jay stepped in with a court filing to protect his rights to Reasonable Doubt, which the label owns until 2031, making sure the auction wouldn’t affect his eventual ownership.
Dame also owes over $800,000 to filmmaker Josh Webber after losing a copyright infringement and defamation case.
Rivera pointed out that Jay has stepped up for others—like helping Lil Wayne with tax issues and supporting Scarface during his health scare—yet hasn’t extended that same lifeline to Dame.
He also circled back to the infamous 1999 Kit Kat Club incident, once again saying Jay-Z wasn’t the one who stabbed him.
“I ended up getting surrounded by a bunch of people. It was probably 10 knives that I knew of, and I ended up getting stabbed at the Kit Kat Club,” Rivera recalled. “No. Jay-Z was not the guy that actually stabbed me that night.”
He added that if Jay really had been the one to stab him, “there would have never been The Black Album because I’m an eye-for-an-eye type of guy.”
