Camilla Araujo became the unexpected catalyst for one of the biggest moments in MrBeast’s charity livestream, when she passed along Sophie Rain’s number live on air — a move that led to Rain pledging a jaw-dropping $1 million donation.
The stream, co-hosted by Adin Ross and xQc, was part of the Team Water campaign, which vowed to provide a full year of clean drinking water for every dollar raised. The fundraising target was set at an ambitious $5 million.
In the middle of the broadcast, MrBeast turned to Araujo and asked if she had Sophie Rain’s contact details — a question that set the stage for the million-dollar moment.
“MrBeast called her on stream and asked if I had Sophie Rain’s number,” Camilla Araujo later shared on social media.
Without missing a beat, she passed it along. “I gave it to him and he called Sophie.”
Fans pointed out that the call happened just minutes after Araujo made her own donation. “He called her back after Camilla’s donation. Like 5 mins later,” one comment noted. That second call ended up sealing the night’s headline moment: Sophie Rain pledged $1 million on the spot.
The massive donation instantly overshadowed earlier contributions and set social media buzzing. Many credited Araujo for sparking the chain of events. “Camilla basically set up the biggest donation of the night,” one fan wrote. Another added, “Without her, that call to Sophie doesn’t even happen.”
Earlier in the night, MrBeast had laid out the stream’s mission: “We’re doing this live stream where we can’t get off stream till we raise $5 million for Team Water. Every dollar is one year of clean water for someone in need.”
Not everyone agreed with the approach, with some suggesting live calls could pressure people into donating. “Tbh calling persons on stream is like forcing them to make a donation because they know if they don’t, they’ll get hate,” one viewer commented.
But when Rain’s million-dollar pledge landed, the criticism took a backseat. Fans called it a “game-changer” and praised Araujo for her behind-the-scenes assist.
“Sometimes the biggest impact isn’t writing the check, it’s connecting the dots,” one post read. “Camilla handed him Sophie’s number, and the rest is history.”
