Gloria and Emilio Estefan may be heading to court after being dragged into a bizarre, now-dismissed lawsuit connected to Diddy.
The longtime couple—married for 47 years—were accused of running an underground human trafficking tunnel between their Star Island mansion and Diddy’s property. In the suit, plaintiff Manzaro Joseph alleged that since 2015, he was “drugged, transported against his will, and sexually maimed as a victim of a coercive and organized criminal enterprise.”
The Estefans have consistently denied any involvement. While the lawsuit against them was tossed, Diddy was found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution in his separate racketeering and trafficking case.
Speaking with TMZ, Gloria said she was “pleased” with Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks’ dismissal of the case, adding that the plaintiff now has “some explaining to do.” She insisted she “wasn’t worried about it,” calling the allegations “just fantasy.”
“It’s said that because we’re neighbors,” she explained. “You get thrown into stuff.”
Emilio echoed her relief, saying he was “so glad they [threw] the whole thing out of the court.” He pointed out the absurdity of the claims, noting the suit bizarrely roped in names like Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and LeBron James—none of whom were even in Miami. He also dismissed the tunnel theory outright, stressing that Star Island is “all water,” making such construction impossible.
“I think people believe what they hear sometimes, and we’re gonna have to put a lawsuit against them because we work hard,” Emilio said.
Meanwhile, in his own case, Diddy was acquitted of racketeering and trafficking charges but still faces up to 20 years for transportation to engage in prostitution. His sentencing is set for October 3.
