Cardi B Questioned About Weight in Assault Trial, Asked If Accuser Is ‘Bigger’: ‘I Mean, Look’

Cardi B found herself fielding questions about her accuser’s size during a tense moment in her ongoing civil assault trial.

On Wednesday (Aug. 27), attorney Ron Rosen pressed the rapper on whether former security guard Emani Ellis was “bigger” than her.

Cardi explained that during their altercation, she and Ellis were “face-to-face,” describing Ellis as “security heavy.”

“She looks like she’s a little … like she could protect the building,” Cardi said when asked to elaborate. “She looked more developed than me.”

“You said she’s bigger than you, is that correct?” attorney Ron Rosen asked.

“Absolutely,” Cardi replied.

When pressed on how she knew that, Cardi gestured with her hands toward the plaintiff before pointing at her eyes and saying, “I mean, look.”

Rosen responded that he was “looking” but disagreed with her assessment, asking her to clarify further. Cardi then explained, “I mean, I was 130 pounds at the time,” brushing her hair back and giving a slight shoulder shimmy.

When Rosen followed up by asking if she was implying Ellis was overweight, an objection was sustained before Cardi could answer. Later in the exchange, Cardi firmly denied mocking Ellis’ weight or ever calling her fat.

The trial stems from a 2018 altercation between Cardi and Ellis, who was working as a security guard at a Beverly Hills OB-GYN clinic. At the time, Cardi was pregnant with her first child, Kulture.

Ellis alleges that Cardi scratched her face with a two-to-three-inch fingernail, attempted to swing but missed, then body-shamed her, hurled a racial slur, and spit on her.

Cardi’s legal team has disputed the claims.

Earlier in the day, tensions spiked when Rosen pushed Cardi to repeat profanities directly to Ellis. Her attorney, Peter J. Anderson, quickly objected and asked the judge to maintain “civility” in the courtroom.
