Anne Hathaway brushed off a rough tumble in New York City this week with pure grace.
Backgrid USA caught the actress leaving a building when she tripped and went down on the stairs, her legs awkwardly bent beneath her. People reports the mishap was caused by a broken heel on her shoe.
Two men quickly rushed over to help, but Hathaway had already popped right back up, assuring onlookers with, “She’s fine,” which sparked cheers from the crowd.
The slip instantly drew nostalgic comparisons online, with one Instagram user joking, “This is so Princess Diaries coded.”
Another viewer scolded Backgrid for sharing the clip, commenting, “She could have easily broken her leg. Was this video necessary to post??”
The stumble actually marked Hathaway’s second close call that week. Just days earlier on Wednesday (Aug. 27), another video captured her narrowly avoiding being hit by a bicyclist. Though she stopped in time, the near miss left her visibly shaken before she regrouped and carried on to meet the film crew.
Hathaway later decided to poke fun at the whole ordeal. On Thursday (Aug. 28), she shared a TikTok using a classic Princess Diaries moment of her tumbling on the bleachers back in 2001, before cutting to her recent New York spill.
“Twenty years later, still falling for you…” she captioned the post, while the on-screen text read: “Witness the queen herself take a tumble like a champ.”
