Priscilla Presley Was Deeply Worried About Lisa Marie’s Relationship With Michael Jackson

Priscilla Presley never held back her concerns about her late daughter Lisa Marie’s marriage to Michael Jackson.

Speaking on the Australian radio show JAM Nation with Jonesy & Amanda, the 80-year-old revealed that she barely interacted with Jackson during his two-year marriage to Lisa Marie.

“I probably said two sentences to Michael,” Priscilla admitted, explaining that her unease came from his fascination with celebrity. “He loved people in the business. He loved actors, he loved people that were famous. I was very concerned because my daughter was famous and the daughter of the most famous man, really, in rock and roll.”

Lisa Marie and Jackson wed in 1994, just weeks after she finalized her divorce from musician Danny Keough, with whom she shared two children, Riley and Benjamin. Their whirlwind union ended in 1996 but not before sparking global headlines and endless speculation.

Priscilla said she made her disapproval known but eventually let go because Lisa Marie’s feelings were clear. “She knew I wasn’t for it. But I had to back off,” she said.

She also touched on Jackson’s unique speaking voice, which had long been the subject of rumors. “He always had that high voice with me,” Priscilla said. “I did hear a different voice when he was at home talking to someone who worked for him. I don’t think he ever wanted to lose that little boy in him.”

Reflecting on Lisa Marie’s later struggles, Priscilla connected them to the heartbreaking loss of her son Benjamin in 2020. Lisa Marie died three years later at 54. “That was my biggest fear because I knew she adored him so much,” Priscilla shared. “When he passed, a bit of her passed.”

Priscilla has called Benjamin’s death “devastating,” describing it as one of the darkest chapters her family has ever faced.
