On Tuesday, August 26, Taylor Swift announced on Instagram that she and Travis Kelce are officially engaged, sending fans around the world into a frenzy.
Several of Swift’s famous friends quickly showed love, with Selena Gomez posting a congratulatory message on her Instagram Story, while others likely chose to reach out behind the scenes. But one noticeable silence so far has been from Blake Lively, who hasn’t made any public comment on the engagement.
Over the past year, Blake Lively has been caught up in a messy legal battle with her former co-star Jason Baldoni. She accused him of sexual harassment in a lawsuit, which he denied before filing a countersuit against her.
Things got even more complicated when Good Morning America reported that Baldoni publicly released text messages where Lively referred to Taylor Swift as one of her “dragons.” That move dragged Swift into the drama and reportedly put a strain on their friendship.
“Taylor and Blake aren’t speaking,” a source told People.
Back in April, another source said Swift “was really hurt” by being pulled into the situation, though the two were trying to get “on good terms” again. Still, their bond isn’t quite what it once was.
Because of the rift, Lively isn’t expected to be part of Swift’s bridal party, though she may still attend the wedding. As for the big day, no date has been announced yet.
Meanwhile, Swift is riding high on major career news—she just revealed that her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, will drop on October 3. She broke the news on Kelce’s New Heights podcast, instantly setting social media on fire with anticipation.
