Hot 97 marked the end of an era this week as legendary DJ Enuff hosted his final show — and Fat Joe, along with DJ Khaled, pulled up to show love.
Joe told TMZ he was in “complete disbelief” when word spread that Enuff had been let go from the station. “It’s sad,” he said. “It’s actually sad. I don’t know the politics of it, but the man been on here since 98.7 KISS. So he’s been on Hot 97 for 27 years. You know, yesterday we heard fake news that Flex was leaving, too. I don’t know what’s going on.”
Joe explained he got a call from DJ Camilo confirming Enuff’s last day was Friday, and he immediately headed over to the station. Khaled joined him, though he eventually stepped outside to take a call.
Meanwhile, Funk Flex stirred up confusion with an announcement that he’d be leaving his long-running 7 p.m. to midnight slot on September 1. Some fans assumed he was retiring altogether, but according to TMZ, Flex is simply moving to a new 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. time slot after Labor Day weekend.
The shake-up continues with Nessa Nitty taking over the 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. slot, while Ebro in the Morning will run from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.
