Curren$y handled Freddie Gibbs’ diss with the same laid-back energy that defines his music.
On his new project 8/30, he kicks off the opener “Rich Uncle Intro” by addressing Gibbs directly, rapping:
“Told me start a Chevy, but I brought the Rolls out/Used to be homies, tried to include me in their roll out/Woke up to animosity I ain’t even know about/I turned some ‘Office’ re-runs on and I zoned out.”
Gibbs took shots at Curren$y on “Gas Station Sushi” from Alfredo 2, where he referenced their 2018 collab Fetti.
“Could’ve ran that Fetti by myself, bitch, I’m the best with AI, yeah/Bitch, keep it G, we like on part three, na, uh/Go start a Chevy up, don’t start me, na,” Gibbs rapped.
After the diss dropped, producer Cash Fargo—who frequently works with Curren$y—fired back at Gibbs on Instagram, warning him to watch his mouth and even threatening action. Curren$y, however, jumped in the comments to keep things cool, writing: “We ain’t trippin hahah send me some beats tho.”
The tension between the two dates back to 2023, when Gibbs openly shared his frustration with how Fetti was handled. When fans asked about a sequel, he made it clear there wouldn’t be one. Later, on a burner Instagram account, Gibbs went deeper:
“N***a shitted on our first project. Didn’t shoot one video or do one show. I ain’t get mad, I just subtracted him from the equation and me and Al made another classic [and] went to the Grammys. End of story.”
