Drake on Bobbi Althoff’s New Podcast: “Welcome to the Nicest Thing That Any Guy Has Ever Done for You”

Drake and Bobbi Althoff are back together for the premiere episode of Not This Again, nearly two years after their buzzy, heavily-clipped 2023 sit-down on the now-ended Not Really Good Podcast.

Kicking off the almost 90-minute chat in a playful mood, the Iceman rapper opened with, “Welcome to the nicest thing that any guy has ever done for you.” From there, the pair dove into a candid conversation about the ups and downs in their friendship, much of it tied to that first interview.

Drake and Bobbi Althoff reunite for the premiere of Not This Again, nearly two years after their widely discussed, frequently clipped, and hotly debated 2023 interview on the now-ended Not Really Good Podcast.

Right from the jump of the nearly 90-minute sit-down, the vibe was light. The Iceman artist kicked things off with, “Welcome to the nicest thing that any guy has ever done for you.” From there, the pair dug into a heart-to-heart about the strains and misunderstandings in their friendship, much of it tied to that first interview.

About 10 minutes into the new interview, Bobbi—citing chatter about a long-rumored rift—asked Drake point-blank, “Why did you hate me for so long?” He said he “never hated” her, though he acknowledged there were issues between them at one point.

“You came around at an interesting time in your life and I think that I took a lot of the weight and blame at that time when you needed to get a little active on somebody,” Drake said. “I think I took some hits, verbally.”

Althoff admitted she was “mean” to Drake “once,” leading into her own read on what temporarily went wrong between them.

“I think that you came into my life at a very big turning point in my life,” she said. “I had a very different life before and after I met you and a lot of people just assume it’s because of you and only you. I think I let a lot of those comments influence me when that happened, when that interview happened, to be like, oh, maybe this was the end of my life. But actually it was singlehandedly probably the best thing to happen to me and my kids.”

Althoff went on to say she married young, revealing she welcomed her first child at 22 and her second two years later. She added that the public held her to an unfairly “higher standard” when weighing in on her divorce.

Later on, Drake and Bobbi revisited the “a little argument” they’d had over text, with Drake linking it to a broader “hair trigger” and sensitivity he feels about certain parts of his place in the industry. Even so, he said he’s “proud” of their first podcast link-up, calling it “special” and crediting it with helping spark similar social media crossovers over the past two years.

In the full video, the two ultimately apologized to each other.

Kicking off her new show on Monday morning, Althoff let fans in on the heavy travel that went into episode one and why she and Drake decided to reconnect for another long sit-down.

“For the premiere of Not This Again, Drake (rapper, singer, actor, aspiring comedian, bed enthusiast) flew me to Manchester, then Belgium, and finally Switzerland, where this episode was filmed, to make amends,” Althoff wrote. “Over two years ago, we filmed an interview in bed that was later deleted. This one is staying up, probably.”
