2Pac Murder Suspect Handed Sentence Over Jailhouse Brawl

A Nevada judge has sentenced Duane “Keffe D” Davis to additional prison time while he awaits trial in 2Pac’s murder case.

On Tuesday (Sept. 2), Clark County Court Judge Nadia Krall gave Davis a 16 to 40–month sentence over a jailhouse fight that wasn’t connected to the late rapper’s 1996 killing, per CBS affiliate KLAS.

The 62-year-old has been behind bars at the Clark County Detention Center since his September 2023 arrest and is scheduled to stand trial for 2Pac’s murder in February.

“I was attacked,” Davis told the court during his hearing. “It was wrong, I know not to fight in the jail. The guy attacked me.”

He added, “My parents brought me up to protect myself, and that’s all I was doing, protecting myself, and this is totally wrong, man.”

Back in April, a jury found him guilty after watching video footage of him and another inmate wrestling on the floor of a jail day room for about 30 seconds before officers broke it up.

Under Nevada law, the sentence could have ranged from one to 20 years, with an extra year possible. Instead, Judge Krall handed Davis a concurrent one-year sentence, meaning most of that time will overlap with his current detention as he awaits his murder trial.

The sentencing, which had already been delayed twice, comes as Davis’ trial over 2Pac’s killing remains scheduled for February.
