Though GloRilla has been in the mainstream spotlight for less than five years, Charlamagne Tha God believes she’s got what it takes to go bar for bar with Nicki Minaj’s catalog.
The conversation came up on the Thursday (Sept. 4) episode of The Breakfast Club as DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, Loren LaRosa, and Charlamagne discussed Cardi B’s recent Billboard interview.
In that chat, Cardi insisted she’s still part of the “big three” of female rap, though she didn’t specify who the other two were. Based on cultural weight, reporter Carl Lamarre suggested the trio likely includes Nicki Minaj and Cardi’s “WAP” partner, Megan Thee Stallion.
But around the four-minute mark of the broadcast, Charlamagne threw GloRilla’s name into the mix.
“I don’t know who how y’all how y’all mixing it up,” he said. “I just know GloRilla in there. Certified big three of this generation.”
Charlamagne doubled down, saying he believes GloRilla actually takes Megan Thee Stallion’s spot in the top three. Jess and DJ Envy agreed Megan’s consistency has dipped, noting she’s been leaning more into branding lately than dropping music.
Still, Charlamagne circled back to his point about Glo, adding, “By the way, none of them have more records than GloRilla. None of them. And I mean that respectfully.”
