Jack Osbourne Opens Up About the ‘Sadness and Pain’ of Losing His Father Ozzy

Jack Osbourne, the youngest child of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, has opened up about the heartbreak of losing his father.

Just over a month after the Black Sabbath icon passed away at 76 on July 22, Jack shared a YouTube video where he reflected on Ozzy’s life and the moment he received the devastating news.

According to The New York Times, Ozzy’s death certificate listed “out of hospital cardiac arrest” and “acute myocardial infarction” as the causes.

In the video, around the 2:30 mark, Jack recalled being informed by a longtime family associate who had worked with them for nearly 30 years.

“I left on the 13th of July, came home, and my dad was great,” Jack, 39, said. “He was in a good mood. He was happy. I woke up in Los Angeles to a knock on my house door at around 3:45 in the morning.”

“And I was informed that my father had passed,” Jack continued. “Immediately, I don’t know, just [felt] pain, just sadness and pain and just so many thoughts you go through, like feeling sad and frustrated and angry. Like this part of you that’s like, ‘I have to get there right now.'”

He later returned home and, alongside his mother Sharon and older sister Kelly, attended Ozzy’s memorial service on July 30 in Birmingham, England. Ozzy is also survived by his eldest daughter with Sharon, Aimee, as well as his other children from previous relationships.

In the video, Jack Osbourne also took time to remember the lighter moments with his dad, describing Ozzy as a “friend, text buddy and joke cracker.”

“I was so lucky,” he shared. “I had such a great relationship with him and I’m so grateful and I think that’s been the overwhelming feeling has been gratitude.”

Jack added that his father managed to achieve so much before “the full stop,” noting that Ozzy’s last performance with Black Sabbath took place on July 5.
