Dionne Warwick has never been shy about speaking her mind, and at 84, she’s showing that her humor and knack for spotting TV nonsense are as sharp as ever.
As she recovers from emergency leg surgery, the music legend made it clear that one show won’t be making her binge list: Emily in Paris.
The Grammy winner first took aim at the Netflix series back in 2024, jokingly questioning how Lily Collins’ character, Emily Cooper, managed to keep her job abroad without even having a work permit.
“Emily goes to her place of employment every day in Europe. Is that the entirety of the show?” Warwick quipped on X (formerly Twitter).
When Netflix playfully replied, she wasn’t letting up: “Well @netflix has responded, but did not provide an adequate answer. I Googled it. She goes to work.”
After her recent health scare, Dionne Warwick is holding steady on her stance. Following emergency leg surgery that forced her to cancel her Saturday, September 6 set at the Soul Town Festival, the music icon gave fans an update on her recovery — and a playful reminder of what not to recommend.
“As most of you may know, I’ve had to cancel a few shows due to emergency leg surgery. I’m doing okay, do not worry! However, I need some show/movie recommendations while on the mend. Not Emily in Paris. Love you all,” she wrote on September 4.
Warwick shared that the pain before her surgery was so severe, her doctor had to act immediately. “The last thing I expected was to have surgery the day I was to fly to London,” she wrote. “Pain was unbearable and my doctor rushed me into surgery thank goodness, as it could’ve resulted in something far worse.”
Though she’s taking a break from the road for now, Warwick isn’t stepping away from the stage anytime soon. “I do what I love,” she told E! News last year. “When I get to the point where the bar that I’ve set for myself, I can’t reach any longer, that’s when I’m going to wrap up my little ballet slippers and say, ‘Buh bye.’”
