Dua Lipa wowed the crowd in Chicago on Friday night (Sept. 5) as she brought out music icon Chaka Khan during the first U.S. stop of her Radical Optimism World Tour.
The pop sensation opened her two-night stint at the United Center with stunning visuals, striking outfits, and a 22-song setlist covering hits from across her career. But the highlight of the evening came halfway through the show, when Lipa invited the legendary singer onstage for a powerhouse duet of the 1983 classic “Ain’t Nobody.”
The duet with Chaka Khan continues Lipa’s trend of teaming up with legendary artists throughout her Radical Optimism World Tour. Earlier this year, she joined forces with Crowded House’s Neil Finn in New Zealand and Jamiroquai in London.
Chicago marks the official launch of her U.S. leg, after a string of European and Canadian shows this summer. From here, Lipa is set to hit major cities like Boston, Miami, New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Seattle.
Radical Optimism, Lipa’s third studio album released last year, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Its lead single, “Houdini,” dominated Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart for 17 weeks, building momentum for the tour since its late 2024 kickoff.
Just last month, the pop star took to Instagram to share she had officially become a citizen of Kosovo, telling fans she’s really “lovinggggg lifeeee.” Speaking to the BBC, she added, “It completes the duality I have always had within. I love this country, and this means so much to me and my family.”
