It’s been 25 years since Bring It On first hit theaters, but Kirsten Dunst has zero plans to reprise her role in a reboot or late sequel.
While chatting with Entertainment Tonight’s Denny Directo at the premiere of her new film Roofman, Dunst was asked if she’d ever consider stepping back into the cheer world. “No, not at all,” she said. “I’m like, leave good things in—right where they are.” When pressed about possibly returning in a producer capacity, she shot that down too.
“No, no,” Dunst added. “I don’t need to put on a cheerleading outfit or… I don’t even know what I would do. Be a coach or something? Let’s leave it at that.”
Released in 2000 and directed by Peyton Reed, Bring It On became a teen comedy classic and arrived right before Dunst’s blockbuster run in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. The movie inspired six direct-to-video sequels, though none included the original cast. The latest dropped in 2022.
Dunst has been more open about returning to superhero films. Last year, she admitted she’d be down to appear in another comic book project, pointing out, “You get paid a lot of money, and I have two children, and I support my mother.”
When asked if Marvel or anyone else has reached out since those comments, she said, “I would love to… Not that I know. I just want to do something that my kids would love that I was in.”
