Kevin Gates gave iShowSpeed a taste of Louisiana culture during the streamer’s recent stop in New Orleans—and the topic quickly shifted to women.
In a clip that’s been making the rounds online, Gates proudly spoke about the mothers of his children, noting they’re all from Louisiana. To him, the state is a cultural melting pot full of variety.
“All my baby mommas are from Louisiana. All of them,” Gates said. “Man it’s like being in Brazil, it’s just all different flavors. Got your caramel sundaes, chocolate easter bunnies, vanilla easter bunnies. It’s just all different flavors. Everything you could think of is right here. Creole shit—you know it’s gumbo, it’s a mixture of everything.”
When Speed asked if true love could really be found in Louisiana, Gates didn’t hesitate: “That’ll happen.”
The rapper shares two children with his wife Dreka Gates—daughter Islah, born in 2012, and son Khaza, born in 2014.
While Gates has hinted at having other kids, he rarely reveals details about them or their mothers. Back in 2013, he told Complex, “I got some children. I’m real real close with them. I lay in the bed with them, hold them, love on them. It really doesn’t make sense to say [how many kids I have]. Not in a bad way, but it’s not like the public will ever get to see my children, and if they do see them, they aren’t going to know they’re mine.”
He echoed similar sentiments in a sit-down with VladTV, where he opened up about raising multiple kids—including two born around the same time from different mothers, one of whom was his best friend.
“Both of those women love me with all their heart,” Gates said.
