Cardi B says Stefon Diggs has been her rock, giving her both strength and security as she juggles motherhood, new music, and a growing family.
In a Wednesday (Sept. 17) sit-down with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, the rapper revealed that she and the NFL star are expecting a baby together. The news comes just ahead of the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album, Am I the Drama?
When King asked about her new track “Safe” and whether Diggs is someone who makes her feel that way, Cardi didn’t hold back. “Very safe. In both ways—physically, I mean, like, you see how big he is,” she said with a laugh. “He just makes me feel safe and very confident and very strong. I mean, like, two weeks ago I was literally having a panic attack. I was, like, crying and crying and crying, just because I was just getting really nervous with, you know, the whole album rollout.”
She admitted the heavy criticism online has taken a toll on her artistry. “People were coming at me very hard. You know, sometimes people love you, people hate you. And people was just saying very mean things about me,” she explained. “And I’m like, see, this is why I don’t put music out, because it’s like, this is my art, and this is something that I put a lotta love and time… Sometimes, when people just rip it apart it just hurts you and it crushes you.”
Still, she credits Diggs for keeping her grounded. “He makes me feel very confident,” Cardi said. “And it makes you feel like you could take over the world.”
Reflecting on love after her split from Offset, with whom she shares three children, Cardi admitted she was hesitant about dating again—until Diggs reassured her with the words, “Let me heal you. Give me a chance for me to heal you.”
Cardi B’s upcoming baby with Stefon Diggs will be her fourth child, with the little one expected to arrive before she kicks off her Little Miss Drama arena tour in February.
Speaking with Gayle King, the rapper admitted she kept the pregnancy under wraps while finalizing deals—and even confessed she hadn’t told her own parents yet because she was “scared of them.”
“Because I’m scared of them,” she said with a laugh. “I’m very scared of my parents,” though she added that they “do like” Diggs.
“Everybody kept telling us to have fun and we had a little bit of too much fun, and now I’m here,” Cardi joked. “We had too much fun. We’re very excited. We’re very happy.”
Her new album, Am I the Drama?, is set to drop on Sept. 19.
