Cardi B says her split from Offset is getting messy, pointing to property and money issues as the reason their divorce hasn’t been finalized.
Speaking on X Spaces Monday (Sept. 22), the Brimcess opened up about the ongoing legal battle with her estranged husband, making it clear that the hold-up is tied to financial demands.
“The only reason why I’m still married is because somebody wants me to pay for their taxes,” Cardi B vented during her X Spaces livestream, without naming Offset directly. “Y’all wanna know the tea? The only way I can get out of my marriage is if I pay for somebody else’s taxes, even though I pay for my own, and give them one of my properties. I’mma fight for that. This is not no love shit. I’m not gonna stop living my life.”
Her comments came as backlash mounted after she revealed she’s pregnant with her fourth child — her first with boyfriend Stefon Diggs — just days ahead of the drop of her new album Am I the Drama?
Among those weighing in was The Read co-host Crissle West, who argued that children “need parents who are very mindful and deliberate about bringing [them] into the world choosing to guide you into adulthood.”
“Yo mama out here giving her pussy to whoever the fuck she wants to and keeping whatever y’all drop off in her fucking uterus is crazy,” Crissle West said on The Read podcast.
Cardi B fired back during her Monday stream: “Also, stop trying to make it seem like I got a hundred gazillion baby daddies. I have three kids with one man that I got married with. Yes, I’m having a baby with somebody else. So what, that happens, it’s life.
“Let me tell you something, I did things the correct way the first time. I fell in love. I got two rings in my finger. I lasted seven years, seven years that I didn’t have to last with somebody with. I lasted seven years in a marriage. Stop saying, oh, but you’re still married. No, I’m legally separated.”
She went on to explain that her relationship with Offset took such a heavy toll on her that she had to seek treatment.
“Y’all don’t know half of the shit,” Cardi said. “I had to go to a fucking hospital because I couldn’t take it no more … When your management and your label is getting together because they are concerned, it’s time to go. When it’s affecting your work and you can’t even record, it’s time to go. And I left. Goddamn.”
Back in May 2025, Offset reportedly updated his divorce filing to include a request for spousal support from Cardi B. While the documents didn’t outline a specific figure, he was also said to be pushing for joint custody of their three kids: six-year-old Kulture, three-year-old Wave, and baby Blossom. His petition also asked that Cardi’s home be designated as their primary residence.
The pair first got together in early 2017 and secretly tied the knot that September. After years of ups and downs, Cardi officially filed for divorce in July 2024.
