Rapper El Moreno Mexicano Taken Into Custody Following Deadly Car Crash in Indianapolis

Mexican rapper El Moreno Mexicano has been taken into custody after a weekend car crash in Indianapolis that claimed one life.

Per IndyStar, the artist—real name Brayan Camacho Calleja—faces preliminary charges of DUI resulting in death, DUI endangering a person, DUI with a blood alcohol level above .08, and driving without a license.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office is expected to announce formal charges soon.

Court documents reveal that Camacho Calleja was driving a red Dodge Charger when it collided with a black GMC Yukon just before 3 a.m. on Sept. 20. Police nearby saw the Charger skid across a sidewalk and slam into an apartment building.

Officers reported seeing Camacho Calleja and a woman attempting to run from the wreck. When they stopped him, they noted his “bloodshot and glossy eyes” and the strong smell of alcohol on his breath.

At the time, the rapper only had a Mexican Consulate Card on him and no valid driver’s license for Indiana. He initially refused a blood alcohol test but was forced to comply after police secured a warrant.

The crash killed 31-year-old Aaron Deandre Radford, who was ejected from his Yukon. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
