Cardi B is back on top of the Billboard 200 in a big way.
Seven years after dropping her debut Invasion of Privacy, her long-awaited sophomore effort Am I the Drama? is set to debut at No. 1 with 205,000 album-equivalent units, according to Hits Daily Double.
While chart-topping singles like “WAP” and “Up” appear on the tracklist, they didn’t count toward first-week sales since they were released years prior. Still, their success helped the album secure an RIAA platinum certification the moment it dropped.
The huge first-week numbers come down to sky-high anticipation, along with a few smart moves—Cardi discounted the album on iTunes to $4.99 and hit several cities for in-store appearances, wrapping things up at Fingerprints in Long Beach, California, on Thursday (Sept. 25).
Am I the Drama? also comes stacked with big-name collaborations. The album includes Summer Walker on “Dead” and “Shower Tears,” Selena Gomez on “Pick It Up,” Kehlani on “Safe,” Lizzo on “What’s Goin’ On,” Cash Cobain on “Better Than You,” and plenty more features.
This coming February, Cardi B will hit the road for her first-ever headlining run, the Little Miss Drama Tour. The trek is expected to kick off following the birth of her fourth child—her first with NFL star Stefon Diggs.
