Bad Bunny has officially been announced as the performer for the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show, marking another huge milestone in his blockbuster year.
The reveal came Sunday, courtesy of the NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation, during halftime of the Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys matchup.
Bad Bunny tied the announcement to his decision to exclude the U.S. from his current string of performances.
“I was thinking these days, and after talking to my team, I think I will do one date in the United States,” Bad Bunny tweeted in Spanish.
Earlier this month, he shed more light on why he initially excluded the U.S. from his plans. “There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the U.S., and none of them were out of hate,” he told i-D. “I’ve performed there many times. All of [the shows] have been successful.”
One of his biggest concerns, he revealed, was the threat of ICE. “I’ve enjoyed connecting with Latinos who have been living in the U.S.,” he explained. “But specifically, for a residency here in Puerto Rico, when we are an incorporated territory of the U.S. … People from the U.S. could come here to see the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world. But there was the issue of—like, fucking ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”
Jay-Z, who has the final word on halftime show selections, explained why Bad Bunny got the nod. “What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring,” he said. “We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”
Bad Bunny shared his own excitement in a statement: “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”
The announcement follows a huge year for the superstar. After dropping his sixth studio album, Debà Tirar Más Fotos, earlier in 2025, he launched his No Me Quiero Ir de Aquà residency in San Juan, Puerto Rico, at the legendary Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot. The first run of shows was reserved exclusively for Puerto Rico residents before opening up to a wider audience.
Once the residency wraps, Bad Bunny will take Debà Tirar Más Fotos on a massive world tour, hitting Latin America, Europe, Asia, and more.
Super Bowl LX is set for February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
