In a recent sit-down with SAY CHEESE!, comedian Charleston White shared his doubts about singer-songwriter D4vd’s involvement in the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose decomposed body was discovered in the trunk of his impounded Tesla after it sat abandoned in the Hollywood Hills for nearly a month.
“He didn’t do it,” White insisted when asked about the case. “When they gonna let a na stay out this long and they got a little bit of evidence. They arrest nas with way less evidence.”
So far, the LAPD has not charged anyone in connection with the case but confirmed they are pursuing “several leads” and have not named any suspects.
White questioned why D4vd hasn’t been detained, pointing out how quickly Black men are often prosecuted. “If they found a dead body in me and your car, and this is our car, do you think they’ll let me and you stay out? If they got all this information on him dating a minor, an underage kid… What n***a they let just stay free like this?”
He even compared it to the O.J. Simpson trial, noting that Simpson was arrested after a bloody glove was found. “Why would they let him walk this freely, only to lose endorsements and sponsorships and cancel shows, but not his freedom?” White said, adding that D4vd may not have even been the one using the Tesla registered in his name.
“They don’t let Black men get away with these kind of crimes… Not under this president, homie,” he continued. “You see what they did to Diddy? … You can’t make me believe they going this easy on a n***a that done something horrible to a kid. … It don’t make sense to me… Maybe his mama done it, maybe her mama done it and set him up. Maybe one of them racist uncles or cousins don’t like na***s… Maybe the other boyfriend done it, maybe the pimp who was sex trafficking her for the last year done it.”
White suggested the singer might have a solid alibi, which could explain why he hasn’t been arrested. “Maybe the evidence don’t point to him, maybe it’s just the public opinion,” he said. “I ain’t saying he did or he didn’t. … Sound like he’s being set up to me. Sound like he’s a fall guy.”
Meanwhile, ABC News legal analyst Brian Buckmore weighed in on Good Morning America, saying police simply don’t “have the answers” yet. “A lot of people are gonna be asking the very obvious question of why hasn’t D4vd been brought in, at least for questioning?” he explained. “Law enforcement doesn’t have the answers they want in order to confront or question D4vd, especially without an autopsy report as to the cause and manner of death.”
