Doja Cat Quips She’s “Checking Couch Cushions for Streams” After Dropping Vie

Doja Cat is leaning into her playful side after dropping her 80s-inspired fifth album, Vie.

The project, which she previously told Complex was an “adventurous” record filled with “homages and nods” to the 80s and beyond, is on pace for a No. 5 debut with around 59,000 total units.

As those numbers began circulating online, Doja hopped on X to poke fun at herself, joking that she was “looking under the couch crevices for some streams” — and even posted a photo of herself acting out the search.

Doja Cat is showing off her humor once again following the release of her 80s-inspired fifth album, Vie.

She previously described the project to Complex as an “adventurous” body of work packed with “homages and nods” to the 80s and other eras. Early projections have it headed for a No. 5 debut with about 59,000 total units.

After those numbers hit social media, Doja jumped on X to make light of it all, joking that she was “looking under the couch crevices for some streams” — complete with a photo of her actually searching.

Doja kept the jokes rolling, later poking fun at the idea of “tallying up all my numbers.” She then offered fans some tongue-in-cheek “reasons” to stream Vie, claiming it could “heal the nerve endings in ur clih” or even “soothe the micro tears on the shaft.”

“The French word ‘Vie’ (translated as ‘life’) was a wordplay choice, starting with the fact that this is my fifth album,” Doja explained about the project, which features SZA and production from Jack Antonoff. “I wanted to tie it back to the roman numeral ‘five’ tattoo on my collarbone. In numerology, five represents curiosity, adventure, and change. I chose Vie as a nod to ‘La Vie en Rose’ and built it around the theme of romance. Throughout the album, I explore love, sex, romance, pain, and wonder within a relationship.”

Her previous album, Scarlet, dropped in September 2023 and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. That project was later followed by Scarlet 2 Claude, whose title paid tribute to The Hunchback of Notre-Dame character Claude Frollo.

Up next for Doja is her Tour Ma Vie World Tour, with the North American run kicking off in October 2026 at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena. Fans can check out the full list of dates and ticket info online.
