Young Thug made it clear he doesn’t see himself patching things up with Gunna anytime soon.
Speaking on the It’s Up There podcast, Thug admitted that their relationship changed after the events surrounding their RICO arrest.
“I’m not gonna be able to look at you the same, no matter what,” he said. “We can go get a trillion dollars together. I’m still not gonna be able to look at you the way I looked at you before we went to jail.”
While stressing that he still loves Gunna, Thug explained why moving on separately feels necessary. “I know you love me. We love each other to death. And we just going our own ways,” he said. “Sometimes, you just do that.”
He added that keeping Gunna around would feel disingenuous: “I would feel like a fake n***a just having you around me because… I already look at you a certain type of way. And I got a right to. For the sake of your heart and your mind and the thought process you having now, go get your money, man, take care of your family and do what you need to do.”
Gunna was released after seven months in jail by taking an Alford plea—pleading guilty to racketeering conspiracy while maintaining his innocence. “I have NOT made any statements… have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case,” he said at the time, emphasizing his intention to stay out of the trial process.
Earlier this year, when asked by GQ about his relationship with Gunna, Thug’s answer was short: “I don’t know.”
