Angel Reese is making it clear that her love for the game comes first—no matter how much attention she gets for her looks.
On her Unapologetically Angel podcast, the WNBA star addressed critics who suggest otherwise.
“Just because I’m fine, does not mean I don’t take basketball serious,” Reese said around the 34:30 mark. “Like this whole gag, let’s give it up.”
She even jokingly gave credit to her mom for her appearance: “I’m sorry, you gotta talk to my mom. Being fine, I have to — that’s my thing. But I also hoop.”
Angel Reese broke down how she balances her looks with her grind, explaining her daily routine on her Unapologetically Angel podcast.
“I got up this morning and worked out, and then got my makeup done,” she said. “I maximize my 24 hours so I am very sorry—actually I’m not sorry—for those who feel some type of way that they can’t be fine and play basketball.”
She also doubled back on her haters, addressing the criticism she faced for grabbing her own rebounds. Reese flipped the joke into a win this summer by launching her Mebounds merch, which became a major success.
“So the Mebounds, if you know, you know,” she said. “They tried to clown me for rebounds, and what did I do? I made a bag off of it. Six figures plus, thank you. So y’all can try again because I need another idea for some new colorways.”
Reese revealed in August that she donated a portion of the Mebounds earnings to her foundation for cyberbullying.
Still, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing. Just last month, Reese was benched for the first half of the Chicago Sky’s game against the Las Vegas Aces after critical comments she made in an interview with The Chicago Tribune.
“I’m not settling for the same shit we did this year,” Reese told the outlet. “We have to get great players [this offseason] or else I might consider moving on.”
