Dame Dash is setting the record straight amid ongoing talk about why Jay-Z hasn’t helped him financially, despite their deep history together in the music game.
During a recent sit-down with Cam Capone News, Dash responded to Tony Yayo’s remarks that Jay doesn’t support his artists the way 50 Cent does. The topic came up after Memphis Bleek appeared on Drink Champs, saying Jay never had to worry about taking care of him financially.
“Homeboy is cold. He doesn’t look out for nobody,” Dash said about Jay-Z. “Bleek is still loyal because he knows Jay gives him opportunities. He just won’t enable him, and I respect that. But, you know, he said some slick shit about me, and I wasn’t offended. His view is just different from mine. No man feeds me. I’m not biting or putting no fingers in my mouth. Pause. I’m the man whose hand they bite.”
Dash also called out media personalities like Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy, accusing them of working for Jay and spending years trying to tear him down.
“They just keep fucking with me… for like the last 10 years discrediting everything that I do. Why do y’all want me to look broke so bad?” he said, before addressing the constant chatter about Jay not helping him. “Everybody likes to talk about me. I really don’t mind. And I’m flattered. As long as I’m in the algorithm, I’m good. I actually want people to think I’m weak.”
He went on to say, “Y’all see my life. It’s way better than yours. So how could you feel sorry for me? People see me living better than them by 10, 20 times, and still pity me — but they live in tiny rented apartments, working every day. Meanwhile, I’m chilling in my family office, doing creative things.”
The entrepreneur also made it clear that he runs his businesses independently and without debt, pointing out that he’s not under the control of anyone funding him.
“If you have debt, you are controlled. Whoever gave you that money is telling you what to do. Period. Investment is one thing. Debt is another,” he explained. Dash went on to say that his main priority is protecting his family’s legacy. “I gotta fight because that’s in front of my kids […] I’m fighting for them right now.”
