Taylor Swift believes we’re all “so lucky to be alive” while Paul Thomas Anderson keeps delivering hit after hit — and honestly, she’s not wrong.
During her appearance on The Tonight Show on Monday, Oct. 6, the Life of a Showgirl star — whose accompanying theatrical release just dominated the box office this past weekend, surpassing PTA’s film in its second week — couldn’t stop gushing about Anderson’s One Battle After Another when asked about the last movie she watched.
“Oh, One Battle After Another. My god, my god,” she exclaimed. “Chase Infiniti, Teyana Taylor. How are they gonna split the Oscar in half? We will see.”
Swift continued her praise by calling Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio del Toro “so funny” in the film, and also spotlighted the score, composed by longtime PTA collaborator and Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood.
“The fact that when you hear that theme each time, it makes you feel something different every single time,” she said. “We are so lucky to be alive at the same time as Paul Thomas Anderson. It’s crazy that he is just out there doing that. He’s writing it, he’s directing it, he’s existing on this higher level that we get to watch.”
Whether or not you’re a fan of Taylor’s Showgirl, everything she said about PTA’s One Battle After Another rings true. The movie is a stunning, electrifying experience on the big screen, with Teyana Taylor building on the powerful acting skills she showcased in A Thousand and One back in 2023.
PTA’s latest is easily one of the defining films of this era — and it’s sure to make breakout star Chase Infiniti a lasting household name.
Go see it. And if you’ve already seen it, go again.
