The adventure continues! Sony has officially greenlit the next Jumanji installment, with filming set to kick off in Los Angeles this November.
As confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, the beloved crew—Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan—will reunite once again under director Jake Kasdan’s leadership. Fans can already mark their calendars, as the movie is slated to hit theaters on December 11, 2026.
This marks the third Jumanji adventure for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan—cementing the franchise as one of Sony’s most dependable hits. Jake Kasdan, who previously directed Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), is once again stepping behind the camera. While plot details remain under wraps, the script is being penned by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, the duo responsible for writing the previous two films.
The Jumanji legacy runs deep. It all began with Chris Van Allsburg’s 1981 picture book, which imagined a magical board game that brought jungle chaos into the real world. That story inspired the 1995 classic starring Robin Williams, a fan-favorite that introduced the concept to millions.
Sony later revived the franchise in 2017, transforming the board game into a video game that trapped teens inside avatar bodies. The reboot became a global sensation, earning over $962 million worldwide. Its 2019 sequel expanded the adventure with new characters and worlds, pulling in another $800 million.
Now, the next chapter aims to keep that winning formula alive—blending humor, heart, and blockbuster action. Returning cast members from the teen group—Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser’Darius Blaine, and Morgan Turner—are expected to return, alongside Awkwafina, who joined in The Next Level.
This time, the jungle is welcoming some new players too. Brittany O’Grady (The White Lotus, It’s What’s Inside) joins the cast in a mystery role, while Burn Gorman (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) also signs on.
Their roles are still under wraps, leaving fans eager to find out how these new faces will shake up the adventure.
