Britney Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline has alleged that the pop icon would stand in their sons’ room at night holding a knife.
In his new memoir, You Thought You Knew, Federline details the alleged incident involving their sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston. “They would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway watching them sleep — ‘Oh, you’re awake?’ — with a knife in her hand,” he wrote, according to The New York Times.
Spears and Federline were married from 2004 to 2007 and went through a messy custody battle after their split. In a 2022 interview with ITV, Federline revealed that their sons had been keeping their distance from their mother. “The boys have decided they are not seeing her right now,” he said. “It’s been a few months since they’ve seen her. They made the decision not to go to her wedding.”
He also expressed how challenging it has been to raise their sons amid Spears’ public behavior, including her nude social media posts. “This whole thing has been hard to watch, harder to live through, harder to watch my boys go through than anything else,” Federline said. “I try to explain to them, ‘Look, maybe that’s just another way she tries to express herself.’ But that doesn’t take away from how it affects them.”
Since moving to Hawaii with their father in 2023, Spears has reportedly been rebuilding her bond with her kids. A source told US Weekly earlier this year that the family is “healing together,” adding, “The boys are maturing and they want their mom in their lives, and Britney is really happy about that. She feels whole again.”
In June, Spears shared a sweet moment on Instagram — a video of her son Jayden driving a convertible. “He is 6’3 and his hands are so big now!!!” she wrote. “How long am I going to be in shock??? It’s so incredibly crazy, it’s not even funny!!! I’m blessed!!! Just please be careful with my heart too!!!”
