Britney Spears is pushing back against what she calls the “constant gaslighting” from her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, who recently unveiled his upcoming tell-all memoir, You Thought You Knew.
Federline’s book, set to drop on Oct. 21, reportedly dives into unsettling claims about his former wife, whom he was married to between 2004 and 2007.
Taking to social media on Wednesday (Oct. 15), Spears addressed the allegations Federline made about her behavior around their sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston — including claims that she once stood in their room at night holding a knife.
“The constant gaslighting from my ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting,” Spears wrote on X. “I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys. Relationships with teenage boys are complex.”

“I’ve felt completely demoralized by this whole situation and have constantly asked — almost begged — for my sons to be part of my life,” Britney Spears said. “Unfortunately, they’ve always seen the lack of respect their own father has shown me. They need to start taking responsibility for themselves.”
She slammed Federline’s memoir for being filled with “white lies,” adding, “I’m the only one who truly gets hurt in all this.”
“I’m actually a pretty smart woman who’s been trying to live a sacred and private life for the past five years,” she concluded. “I’m speaking out now because I’ve had enough — and any real woman would do the same.”
Spears’ post follows remarks from her first husband, Jason Alexander, who called out Federline over his tell-all book You Thought You Knew, which accuses Spears of cheating with a female dancer in Amsterdam.
Alexander claimed Federline was trying to rewrite history to make himself look innocent. “As someone who’s known Britney most of her life — not just as her first husband, but as a friend who’s seen everything she’s gone through — I can’t stay silent,” he wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday (Oct. 14).
Spears and Federline, who divorced in 2007, endured a messy custody battle over their two sons. In 2022, Federline revealed the boys’ relationship with Spears had become distant and that they had chosen not to visit her for several months, even missing her wedding.
