Ja Rule might be aging like fine wine, but he just dropped a major life update — he’s about to be a grandfather!
The 49-year-old rapper revealed the news on Sherri on Thursday (October 16), sharing that his daughter, Brittney Aitken, is expecting her first child with her husband, Tevin Aitken.
“I’m about to be a grandfather,” Ja told the audience, laughing as he added, “That don’t even sound right.”
He went on to describe the heartwarming way Brittney broke the news to him and his wife, Aisha Atkins.
“She put the sonogram in a box with a card that said, ‘You are now grandma and grandfather,’” he recalled. “She told us she had a gift for us — and we thought it was something else! She had the camera rolling to capture our reaction. It was an amazing moment.”
Not long after her dad’s reveal, Brittney confirmed the news on Instagram, writing, “SURPRISE!!!!! This little bean is having a little bean.” She added, “Holding this secret has been so hard but so worth it — momma and daddy can’t wait to meet you.”
The Instagram post also included a video capturing the exact moment Ja Rule and Aisha learned the big news. “In that moment, I felt like, this is how it’s supposed to be,” Ja said.
Earlier this year, the proud dad had another unforgettable moment when he walked Brittney down the aisle at her wedding.
